 Welcome to the Key Report
The Key Report is the thinking person’s critical weekly review and analysis of the wine Industry in Australia and its key overseas markets.
Published weekly on-line, The Key Report is a comprehensive roundup of what’s happening where, when, why and by whom, including a wide-ranging record of local and overseas public company financial results as they are announced.
The Key Report is written by a team of experienced wine industry professionals, headed by Tony Keys, whose 30 years experience in the wine industry includes stints with AWEC (Australian Wine Export Council) and AWB (Australian Wine Bureau) in London.
The Key Report is a forum for everyone who drinks, distributes, retails, exports or studies wine, and who grows, makes, markets wine or supplies to the wine industry. We offer you a place to speak out about the issues that are important to you.
The Key Report is not a sycophantic collection of meaningless words, but a sharp, critical, independent evaluation of the Australian wine industry and its increasing role in the world of wine. We are not afraid to offer our views as we strive to uncover the truth.

Below is an endorsement of The Key Report from Paul Clancy,
retired publisher of The Australian & New Zealand Wine Industry
Directory (amongst many other things). It is a glowing endorsement
of The Key Report and we feel proud such a man would say such things
about TKR:
Paul Clancy: "I have heard Tony Keys called a pain
in the arse, and even "that bastard Keys", but I have
never heard him called a liar. And nor do I ever expect to. For
Tony Keys and The Key Report is nothing if not honest, probing and
tenaciously inquisitive. TKR sometimes shines light where others
might prefer it to remain dark. TKR is not just a breathe of fresh
air in a landscape of sycophantic wine industry commentary, it is
an absolutely essential development in an industry which for too
long has enjoyed a comfortable environment of only modest scrutiny
and a great deal of spin. Tony Keys may, at times, be seen by some
within the industry as a prickly character, a nuisance or an unwanted
provocateur, but his intent is always honourable and he can never
be accused of anything other than seeking the truth of the matter.
A forum, such as that provided by TKR, is a healthy development
for an industry to openly discuss and debate issues which may otherwise
have not seen the light of day. I can't praise TKR highly enough
for its courage to do what others have shied away from. It is far
easier to take the path of least resistance in all facets of life
and business than to choose, as TKR has done, the harder path -
where monetary rewards and good relations with all and sundry are
secondary to honesty and integrity."
